God is faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:9. “God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of His Son.” There is no mistake – God is working among His people. How wonderful it is when God's people are doing what they are supposed to do, how they should do it, and where they should be doing it. But what happens when things are not as they should be among God's people? Does He abandon them until everything is fixed? Or does God step in to help them face the problems and move forward for Him once again?
Yes, He does not abandon His wayward children or a wayward church. Clear directions are given for steps toward recovery. Wrongs that need to be corrected are outlined. The expectations of the Lord for the church of God are made clear, and time is given to address the wrongs. How gracious of God to give us time to repent and follow His instructions. The Lordship of Christ is very evident in times of failure and departure, as He steps in with His supreme authority to make us face our Master.
