1 Thessalonians 2:6

The Servant’s Character

The Servant’s Character. 1st Thessalonians 2:6 Apostles had the right to be supported because of their special calling by the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul, in particular, was commissioned by the Lord to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles. His conversion, the miracles He performed through him, and the spiritual roles He was given demonstrated his position as an apostle, extending to the "regions beyond."

His commission comes from the highest Source, the Lord Jesus Christ. The true evangelist follows God's guidance to the place He selects. He knows souls are lost in sin's bonds and darkness everywhere because all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. He also knows this specific place is where God wants him at this time. People everywhere need him and the message he carries. When he explains The Gospel in simple words, the searching soul understands the meaning of Christ's atoning blood as the price Jesus paid for his sins. In faith, the evangelist shares the truth he is responsible for; in faith, the lost one receives the Savior, and the Spirit gives new life to those who believe in Jesus.

There are challenges for those who have a heart for evangelism and want to see those whom God saves living for Him and growing in faith. Three of these challenges are: first, validating the confession of faith and conversion of someone who professes to be saved by showing personal interest and counseling. To accomplish this; second, we need to commit ourselves to follow up with them and see them integrated into the life of a congregation. Third, the congregation must commit to the long-term care of new believers and hopefully see them take on responsible roles themselves.
