1 Thessalonians 3

A PURIFYING HOPE

A PURIFYING HOPE. 1st Thessalonians 3 The apostle Paul was very concerned about the spiritual well-being of the believers in Thessalonica and wanted to learn more about what was happening with them and to them. He didn’t feel like living if he didn’t know they were firmly standing in their faith. Equally important as seeing the Lord at His coming was the hope of seeing those he had led to the Lord through his preaching, sharing in the joy and glory of that great moment.

The coming of the Lord motivates us to live holy lives, walk in faith, and work in love. We must be consistent in how we live, remain committed to purity in our thoughts and morals, and be willing to show our love for the Lord and His people. The focus of Christian life should not be on our ability to attract others to us, but on valuing and utilizing the spiritual gifts God has given us.

The unity of local assemblies is preserved when the diverse gifts God has given to the saints are used harmoniously to build up the believers and strengthen the assembly's witness to those around us in the community.

A charming personality and skillful use of words can shift the focus of a message from God to the messenger instead of the message when pride and pragmatism replace humility and faith. When concern for the Lord’s people and the honor and allegiance to our Lord are genuine, spiritual people can find rest in their spirits and joy in their souls.
