1 Thessalonians 4:10

Increase More and More

Increase More and More. 1st Thessalonians 4:10 The Thessalonian Christians already loved one another, and that love extended beyond their own congregation. Their love had been limited by opportunities to demonstrate it, but they were not exclusive in how they showed love to others. Without favoritism or sectarianism, they expressed their love to the Lord’s people in other assemblies around them.

This was what the Lord Jesus Christ had commanded when He was here. He said that love was how people would know that those who professed to believe in Him were indeed His disciples. Loving others without respect for persons is one of the fundamentals of evangelism. “The love of Christ” compels us to love others. This is not typically evident because love is usually focused on family and friends.

In a world filled with self-centered and self-serving individuals, the love Christians have for each other should be evident enough that those observing them would be moved to put their faith in Christ. Genuine love isn't just words; it shows the value and concern believers in Christ have for the Lord Jesus and the eternal well-being of others, including those they've never met.

“Increasing more and more” simply means that we cannot think we have loved enough or have no more to give. As we reach out to others in the world with the kind of love our Lord had for us, we will find that God gives us a greater capacity to love others in His name. That love also opens doors of opportunity for spreading the Gospel and strengthening Christians.
