1 Thessalonians 5:1

Not Your Concern

Not Your Concern. 1Thessalonians 5:1 Dates are not given in relation to the coming of the Lord. The fact of it is all we need to know in order to be ready. The beginning of it will be sudden and at a time that aligns with God's calendar of events, not ours, nor based on our wishful thinking. It is foolish to set dates because "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day."

The people of God should never allow themselves to be misled by those who set dates based on current events or for any other reason. His coming will be unexpected and surprising. "Times" relates to the length of the interval between His ascension and His coming. "Seasons" pertain to the characteristics of that interval. The Thessalonians and we know all we need to know. Avoiding speculation about the timing of this event and instead living in anticipation of it is the attitude we should have, with holiness as our testimony to the inevitable event.

When? Don’t worry; everything is under control. What? The meeting, of course! We will meet Him—there—with them. Who? You who are family—brethren—children of light—of the day. How? Like a thief in the night—there is no time to make changes or preparations. Where? Whether awake or asleep—we will live—with Him. Why? We belong to the day—eternal day.
