Abstain. 1st Thessalonians 5:22 A list of simple, clear, and essential rules exists to uphold a proper Christian testimony. One of these is to stay away from and have no part in anything that appears evil. We must distance ourselves from everything that dishonors, disrespects, or dismisses the name and character of our Lord. Our duty is to "prove what is good" and do it, to recognize what is bad, and to avoid it. This includes errors in teaching, not just seeking pleasure. Unscriptural teaching is not of God. I will distance myself from it and refuse to associate with it. Such actions often make us very unpopular with those who want "everyone to be happy, so we must be tolerant," even if their doctrine is wrong.
When we separate ourselves from what is wrong and "sanctify you wholly," there will be accusations of bigotry, intolerance, unchristian-like attitudes, divisiveness, and a judgmental spirit. People want to impose their own rules of conduct and believe we should all accept them despite what the Word of God says. We need to testify that "the God of peace" completely sets us apart for peace on His terms, not ours. He sanctifies us and empowers us to follow His instructions in His way. This sanctification affects the whole person.
