1 Timothy 4:5

IT IS SANCTIFIED

IT IS SANCTIFIED. 1st Timothy 4:5. Sometimes, we don't realize the power of a simple prayer until we think about who we're talking to. We can become accustomed to speaking words without truly understanding their meaning. When something is not condemned or forbidden in God’s Word, we can ask for a blessing on His created gifts, like the food we eat when we pray to the Lord with a grateful heart. To be “sanctified” means to be made holy. That’s why reading the scriptures at the table, giving thanks, and praying for blessings on our food are so essential. There is a sacred feeling when we recognize God’s goodness and mercy toward us.

This affirmation is clear that all God created is good and can be for our good when we obey Him. Some things He has made are for one purpose, like the three meals a day we may have, and others are to be used as they should in special ways and times. When we see and keep the things God created in their proper place and designated use, we can thank Him for everything He has provided by His unchanging grace.

When we observe the wonders of God’s creation around us, we are glad and reminded that the God we know as Father has unlimited power and authority over everything. The trees around us serve their purpose for which they were made. Carbon dioxide is essential; we need it from them, and sometimes even shade, as well as food that comes from various plants. Even insects play a part in producing abundant food that comes from God’s fullness, although often, to me, they seem just pests. The birds of God’s creation fly about during the day, but by instinct given by God, they return to their nests at night. The animals of the field and forest do exactly what God intended them to do. Creatures of the sea fulfill their seasonal roles to glorify God.

So, when I take hold of things around me that God made for my provision, it would be wrong to misuse what He gave by making poor choices. That’s why the Word of God and prayer are so essential, as they sanctify what I can select to eat from everything available or what I go and buy. The Word of God and prayer help establish a mindset and heart so that it’s not complicated for me to discover God’s will. I can apply the Holy Spirit’s guidance to each situation that arises and experience God’s blessings through His holy consecration.
