FROM BAD TO WORSE. 2nd Timothy 3:13 False teachers and those who choose to live in sin cannot be expected to change any more than a leopard can change its spots. When they are left alone in spiritual darkness without the influence of godly believers and the word of God, they will go from bad to worse. Their only hope is if they are stopped by God and brought to repentance before Him. Then, if they put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of their sins, they can become a new creation in Christ Jesus. While there is life, there is hope.
In these last days, neither the population nor false teachers will desire holiness or seek God. Evil men who cause suffering and deceivers who are seducers are determined to bring down the Lord's people, and they will go from bad to worse in their antagonism. They will not only try to lead others astray and attack true Christians, but they will deceive themselves into thinking what they are doing is right. They are deceived themselves by the devil and don't realize it. Spiritual truths are not just new words, nor do they change over time to fit a "form of godliness." Denominational confusion, doctrinal shifts, and man-made traditions designed to please people should not cause us to stop advancing in the work with the truths we know are right. Evil men who oppose Christianity and pose as Christians will not disappear. Their methods of deception, subtlety, and bold attacks against God and His people will continue and worsen. But eventually, they will be caught in the trap of their own lies. The falsehoods they spread will lead them to believe in their own deception, ultimately bringing them down to a lost eternity.
