ACTS 20 A. His View of Others

1. A healthy convert.

a. Helps him get assurance of salvation. b. Lays groundwork.

2. A growing disciple.

a. Helps him grow in grace. b. Teaches fellowship with others c. How to worship. d. How to set aside time daily for prayer and reading. e. How to give his testimony.

3. A mature disciple.

a. Help to come to a real commitment to Christ. b. To become fruitful in witness for Christ. c. To share the Gospel clearly and Christ-centered. d. To enjoy a steady intake of the Word. e. To develop a growing prayer life. f. To live for God by faith and become useful in His work.

4. A Worker needs

a. To fill the ranks of those who labor. b. To lead others to Christ and grow in grace. c. To develop ministry skills and personal convictions. d. To know his own commitment and to help others. B. His Methods.

1. Train others.

2. Personally, set the pace and be an example.

3. Provide ways for others to get involved.

4. Trains, individuals but at times small groups.

C. His Qualities.

1. A humble mind. (1 Tim.3:6). Pride kills leaders (condemnation of the devil).

2. A tender heart. (v.36-38). Paul was a man of deep emotion.

3. A strong will. Severely tested but leading on despite difficulty.

4. The courage to say what needs to be said. A leader must risk being understood, and feelings will be hurt.

5. The courage to do what needs to be done. Charge, decisive.

6. A clear objective. Know your tasks. Determine to do them. Know where you are going.

7. A clear conscience. Do your best.

D. His Sense of Responsibility.

1. Eyes on the world's masses--but trains his leaders.

2. Gives himself to people--but sticks to his objective.

3. Demands tough standards--but maintains a tender heart.
