Possess the land. Deuteronomy 1:9. It's helpful to revisit and follow the path the Lord has guided us on so far. When we reflect on our lives and the events that have shaped our character, God can reveal to us the reasons behind things and how they happened. At the time, there was fear, and the burden was hard to carry, but in hindsight, we can see a plan. It was no accident – God Himself arranged it, and He does things that are impossible for man.
Moses was speaking – explaining to the people of Israel how they tried to enter the promised land. They needed to remember that ten of them doubted God’s will and His power, which led to all the spies except two dying. Their fear grew so strong that it condemned an entire generation of Israelites. The land was in front of them, but only their children would go in and claim their land.
It was good land that the Lord gave to them, and it was theirs to claim. All they had to do was walk on it. How sad to see that millions missed claiming the blessings and lost what they sought for forty years. If I don’t fully trust the promises in God’s Word, I might miss out on what has been given by grace if I don’t follow the Lord’s steps. I can’t condemn those who lived long ago, when I have disobeyed God’s Word and will. There are now consequences if I refuse to bow and respond to what God tells me. When I recognize a need and am willing to listen to divine guidance from Him, I will surely be safe and in the right place, where I can be kept from sin.
