Your eyes have seen. Deuteronomy 11:7. “But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which He did.” It was a great act of God when He delivered Israel from bondage. It was a great act of God when they crossed the Red Sea. My eyes see weekly the genuine homage of the Lord’s people when the saints of God gather to remember the Lord at the Lord’s Supper. My eyes saw in my home a genuine reality in the faith of my parents as we grew up under their influence. Their influence was far greater than that of educators and other people's opinions.
It was a great act of God when He provided water and food for the Israelites for forty years. It was a great act of God to defeat Israel’s foes. My eyes have often seen evidence of God working in my life and others. God acted in grace right where I stood, and He still does as my eyes look in a mirror, and His mercy I know by experience.
It was a great act of God when He wrote down His laws to teach and guide His wandering people, and it was a great act of God to spare Israel when they sinned. My eyes have also personally seen the truth in God’s Word all the way to the end, from the First Cause and the first actions of creation. My eyes have seen reality when faith and works blend in the lives of others who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in my own personal life.
It was a great act of God to fairly judge those who transgressed His moral law written on human hearts and His written laws. It was a great act of God to wait patiently for forty years until those who rejected Him and would not submit to His authority and leadership had passed away. He could begin again with a new generation of people who had completely learned the value of trusting Him. I have seen evidence of God’s grace and the people He blessed growing and maturing spiritually and morally. My eyes have seen results of salvation beyond what appears outwardly in people of faith.
It was a great act of God when Israel crossed Jordan, stepped forward in faith, followed the ark into the river, and found it dry. It was a great act of God to give them the promised land simply by walking on it. My eyes have seen families change when men are born again, and the effects are felt by their children and many other people who knew them. My eyes have seen people go to heaven while I’m holding their hand, and I feel like I am truly at the gate of heaven.
I never want to lose the wonder of the great acts of God. I want to always and for everything thank Him from my heart for His great acts for me. I see evidence of His greatness all around me and in His Word. I have experienced His greatness and will for eternity.
