THE THIRD THREE SIGNS. Exodus 9:18 - 10 The hardness of the human heart is very hard to explain. When there is no fear of God in front of people, there is no real standard for them to follow or to judge morally. Self-centered, stubborn people do not learn lessons from the past. They live only for the moment and think that the last disaster and major event will be the last one. Arrogantly, they deceive themselves into believing nothing worse can happen to them. They have "experienced it all." Pharaoh was told he would serve as an example to the world to demonstrate God's power and human weakness. Six plagues had passed, and still, Pharaoh's heart was hardened. He did not understand that the plagues were meant to teach him. He chose to stay in darkness instead of accepting the light that obeying God would bring. This ongoing hardness against a Sovereign God and refusal to obey Him still happens today and is growing in what are supposed to be "Christian" countries.
