ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD. Galatians 3:1-15 The failure of the Galatians to stay true to the Gospel of salvation by grace deeply troubled the apostle Paul. They understood and accepted the message that we are justified by faith alone. They had turned away from the world and recognized their union with God, and their sanctification was by faith. They had been "crucified with Christ" and knew that Christ had been crucified for them. This truth had been clearly preached when they first heard the Gospel from Paul. But now, they had become captivated by false teachings from men they did not know.
Even today, there is a fascination that draws believers when a teacher appears on a television program or visits a community of religious practitioners and presents an unusual message that captivates people. Some will say, "I never heard anything like that before," and they will follow that person's line of reasoning instead of the scripture. Spiritual hypnotism is still practiced today, just as it was in Galatia.
