Understanding from the Holy Spirit. John 16:14-16. The Holy Spirit is at work; His role is to reveal why the Lord Jesus Christ, who created the world, must go to the cross. The Spirit uncovers the purpose behind our Lord Jesus' death on the cross so we can see it from God's perspective. In light of divine intent, it humbles us. The Holy Spirit "reproves the world of sin," measuring human unbelief by showing us God's view of Calvary and the reason for His holy grief. Sin required a sacrifice that was perfect in every way. Understanding the depth of Christ's death on the cross is the best way to open the door to new life and a new day.
The Holy Spirit reproves righteousness—God's standard of holiness. He reveals to the self-righteous world that the Redeemer was made a curse for us. A person who is convicted of sin and guilt by a look at God's holiness will find at the cross that God was satisfied when His Lamb bore the sin of the world.
This world is under the shadow of judgment because the prince of the world has been judged and condemned. The evil “god of this world” has one main goal: to take all control away from God. On the cross, Christ defeated his goal by being obedient until death. Satan's power of death was broken when our Lord Jesus Christ "gave His life" as a ransom for our sins, as the scripture says. Now Satan's hold has been broken, for when a sinner comes to the cross, the work of Christ—when He laid down His life—restores what sin had lost. Fellowship and union with God are the results. He gives eternal life to those who trust the Mighty Conqueror, and the Spirit gives life and light.
The bitterness is growing—unreasonable, inexplicable, and unnecessary. Brothers, sisters in Christ, and their children are hurt, imprisoned, and confined. There are books from all religions that teach, train, and transform into darkness and night in the hearts of men, which intimidate, incite, and spark their resistance against our Lord because Jesus came full of grace and truth. He was the embodiment of living truth. As the Truth, He showed patience, light, and love. He dealt with sin by taking it on Himself and paying its price with His blood. Christians believe He is alive and testify to His Gospel. They “buy” His truth, and because of this, opposition arises!
The Comforter came to dwell within, inspire, and ignite a spiritual fire in believers who respond to Him through prayer, praise, and preaching the word of God. The Holy Spirit convicts the world, condemns the lost, and challenges the saints—believers in Christ—who love their Lord, the lost, and the light because God loved them first. That love guides them far, illuminating the future and revealing the condition of the lost, the security of the saved, and the certainty of prophecy.
The Spirit of God glorifies Christ, energizes Christians, and guarantees the future, making all men without excuse. Those who intentionally walk in the light understand what is to come! The parables Jesus taught serve as lessons for us, providing guidance and illumination. To live rightly, we must reflect on their meaning, motives, and how they manifest, considering the purpose behind them, our responsibilities, and their outcomes. We gain insights beyond normal knowledge about the Father, faith, and the future because we dedicate time to meditate on the truth, pursue it, and share it. Our task is to lead others to love the Lord above all, learn from the Word diligently, and live faithfully despite opposition—pressures, provocations, and falsehoods—that challenge us. We have understanding that applies to various situations, seasons, and nuances, all taught to us through the parables of the Lord Jesus Christ.
