FOR JUDGMENT. John 9:39 Standards must be established because sin entered the world. Chaos and confusion reigned on the earth until a standard of righteousness touched people's hearts. Self-righteous individuals tried to impose their own rules, but confusion persisted until God's law was given. People sought to favor their own lifestyles, yet their sins remained unforgiven. God's laws clarified what was needed to bring order out of chaos, but they didn't bring rest to people's souls.
In this world of sin, Christ was willing to come, and He did not leave until the judgment for sin was completed. Those who realize they are helpless to establish true righteousness discover that there is One who can forgive our sins and grant us salvation. The demands of God's law could not be ignored, so it was judgment for a broken law that Jesus willingly took upon Himself when He became the sacrifice for our sins. He did not suffer merely to leave us an example, for in His sacrifice, He fully fulfilled the demands of the law.
The judgment He bore makes self-righteous people blind because they can't get their perceived goodness out of their minds. They refuse to accept that they are not good enough in themselves to please God, so despite God's law, they foolishly deceive themselves. Others recognize they are blinded by sin when God's Gospel is clear to them. They willingly turn to Him, who is ready to take the judgment they will forever bear. It is then that they see the Lord Jesus took their place on the cross and suffered for sins, “the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God.”
It was not just in the past that Jesus became known as the sinner’s personal Savior to the man who was born blind. Today, we must clearly state that when Jesus is Lord, we are not our own; we have been bought with the price of His precious blood that redeemed us. We belong to Him and willingly bow before Him in worship and praise.
