Covered lip. Leviticus 13:45 The skin, the head, the hair, the clothes – in all these places, the evidence shows the insidious disease courses through the body – he is a leper. It’s in the blood; it goes to every part, passing through the veins and even through the heart. It can’t be stopped once it starts – it is leprosy. It is beyond the ability of man to stop; it shows itself from bottom to top, and when the evidence shows, you know you’ve got leprosy.
What should I do now? How can I hide the disease that is no longer just inside? Others have had it, and some have died from leprosy. Go to the priest, let him decide the path you should take, and his word will clear up your confusion about leprosy. A covering is placed over the lip, and you must call “Unclean” so others don’t come too close, or they, too, will get leprosy. God can heal from the contagion when He draws close to the outcast men by His grace and heals them through His power. Then, there is no leprosy.
The same is true regarding sin. It isn’t always visible, though it resides deep inside. The outward signs reveal what has long been an insidious sin. The only cure happens when, by God’s grace, each person acknowledges and confronts the consequences sin brings—guilt. The only hope is that, in love, God has sent His Son to die and demonstrate His powerful cleansing, which is so complete that I am made clean.
