Leave the corners. Leviticus 19:9 There is no mistaking what holy means. It is evident in every aspect of a life, knowing that God observes every act, whether from the body or the heart. Respect for my parents, whether alive or deceased; the things I do on the Lord’s Day—the actions I take, the way I speak, the when, the where, and the manner—all convey, whether I realize it or not, what I think of my Lord.
How I utilize what I believe I possess, right down to the corners of my field, conveys a message about the truth I hold. All that I have is given to me by God. I am like a shepherd tending to sheep in His fold. The corners are for strangers to gather from. When God says, “Do not…” it is not really harsh; the rules exist for the benefit of all of us. Let us follow His plan from the land to the landmarks, lest worse problems occur.
In all the actions of my life, I must take care of what I do and how I do it. Even my body should reflect that I respect God, who gives us life and breath. Deliberately cutting or tattooing my flesh shows disrespect for God, who created me. He made me who I am, and intentionally disfiguring what God made is an act of pagan idol worshipers, not children of God. Everything from the food I eat to the example I set, even the clothes I wear, should represent Him, whose salvation I received. It is right to be honest in business and respectful to elders before my family. My love for the Lord will then grow.
