CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST Disciples confessing who He is – now must learn what He came to do. Far removed from their expectations – a restored Israel? Hope for all mankind? The Son of Man must suffer? Hadn’t He already suffered much? The Son of Man must suffer more to fulfill all righteousness. The Son of Man must be rejected by the elders, priests, and scribes, The Son of Man must be killed and, after three days, will arise. The Son of Man must be lifted up and die upon a tree, The Son of Man must be made a curse for us on the cross at Calvary. The Son of Man must be made sin for us to make us righteous before God in Him, The Son of Man must pay the awful cost of sin with His death. The Son of Man must bear our sins to bring us unto God, The Son of Man must thus be charged and bear sins' heavy load. The Son of Man must the law fulfill to meet sin’s claim legally, The Son of Man must die and rise to bring us unto Him. Because He’s the only sinless One, He defeated death by dying, He liberates repentant ones who come to God relying on Him.
