Philippians 1:11

Fruits of Righteousness

Fruits of Righteousness. Philippians 1:11. “Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” The fruits of righteousness are the results of our Lord Jesus Christ working in our lives to do God's will as our normal way of living. These fruits are expected from all Christians as we live and work in fellowship with Him and His people. This is achieved as the Holy Spirit produces the “fruit of the Spirit,” working through us to bring praise and glory to God. This is the ultimate goal of Christian living and everything God does in His children.

When a thought arises in the mind, it is time to take control and bring it into obedience to Christ. The mind is the source of decision-making that flows to the soul, which governs attitudes and actions that identify me as a member of God's family. There are emotions and traits that shape my personality and take on a mental and spiritual form that others can see outwardly. Facial expressions and hand movements are the two parts of my body that reveal what I am like inside. Through these visible extremities, righteousness cannot hide, and neither can unrighteousness.

These parts of my body connect with the words that come from my tongue to express what matters most to me. As all these body parts work together, the results of righteousness begin to become clear to those around me. My face will show my feelings as my hands bend and flex to complete a task. My tongue will form words to guide those I seek to teach, encourage, and help, creating impressions that will last a long time. When all of my efforts are aimed at doing the work God has assigned me, the fruits of righteousness will clearly reveal what God was accomplishing before it actually happened and what He knew the results would be.
