Philippians 2:24

Anticipation

Anticipation. Philippians 2:24. “But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.” All believers in Christ have plans that we hope align with God’s will. Some we are confident about, while others we pray over and seek divine guidance through the scriptures or through whatever means God uses to reveal His will. It is not wrong to make plans as long as we remember that God has a master plan that includes His specific will for us. It would be foolish and arrogant for me to demand that my plans be set in stone and never changed or challenged. It is essential that I consider the interests of others who are affected by or involved in the expected outcome. I will rest in hopeful anticipation, knowing that my plans may be rejected.

Just because a thing doesn’t happen doesn’t mean it was wrong. To anticipate an event, a solution to a problem, or a way to pass on a blessing with interest means I’m willing to look beyond what is happening now and focus on the future. Trust God and pray that there might be some way to nurture hope within that I believe would bring honor to Him. I may be able to fulfill a general purpose that is taught in His Word, so I will continue to act in kindness, joyful anticipation of God doing remarkable work to help this situation. I have tried to keep a light burning that has shone for over 100 years. What we anticipated did not happen, but it was obviously right, so we accept the outcome and are thankful that God still answers prayer.
