BIBLICAL GUIDANCE IN FINDING GOD’S WILL: An example is Paul and the Romans. [Rom.1:8-15] It is appropriate to make plans, 1:13.
- He had no specific guidance as in Acts 16:6-10.
- God had not commanded Paul to go or not to go.
Pray about plans, 1:8-10.
- He prayed that they might be accomplished.
- He had planned this before.
- He was hopeful that this would happen soon, 1:10.
Submitted his plans and himself to God’s sovereign will.
- If he made it to Rome, it would be by “God’s will”, 1:10.
- Up until now, he had been prevented, 1:13.
- He had accepted the delay without frustration.
His plan was based on spiritual goals.
- To provide spiritual ministry to the Roman believers, 1:11.
- To further establish and encourage the Roman church, 1:11-12.
- To further receive encouragement from them, 1:12.
- To win unbelievers to Christ, 1:13-15.
PAUL HAD ARRANGED HIS GOALS ACCORDING TO PRIORITIES: Romans 15:20-29.
- “No further place.”
- “Go to Spain.”
- “Jerusalem.”
- “Come by you.”
