BIBLICAL GUIDANCE IN FINDING GOD’S WILL: An example is Paul and the Romans. [Rom.1:8-15] It is appropriate to make plans, 1:13.

  • He had no specific guidance as in Acts 16:6-10.
  • God had not commanded Paul to go or not to go.

Pray about plans, 1:8-10.

  • He prayed that they might be accomplished.
  • He had planned this before.
  • He was hopeful that this would happen soon, 1:10.

Submitted his plans and himself to God’s sovereign will.

  • If he made it to Rome, it would be by “God’s will”, 1:10.
  • Up until now, he had been prevented, 1:13.
  • He had accepted the delay without frustration.

His plan was based on spiritual goals.

  • To provide spiritual ministry to the Roman believers, 1:11.
  • To further establish and encourage the Roman church, 1:11-12.
  • To further receive encouragement from them, 1:12.
  • To win unbelievers to Christ, 1:13-15.

PAUL HAD ARRANGED HIS GOALS ACCORDING TO PRIORITIES: Romans 15:20-29.

  • “No further place.”
  • “Go to Spain.”
  • “Jerusalem.”
  • “Come by you.”
