The purpose of Christ's redemptive work in this scripture is to save us from the power of sin in our lives and to cleanse us from sin's corrupting effects. We should be known as "peculiar people," unique individuals with a passion for serving God wholeheartedly by helping others and doing good to everyone, especially those in the household of faith. God's servant in training must listen to their instructor to learn the principles of living with grace and how to achieve the expectations set for them, then pass these lessons on to others. The truth of God must be spoken clearly so that there is no confusion about what we say and what we mean. People deserve to be taught in a way that suits them and is easy to understand. The goal of exhortation is to apply God's truth to the situations people face. There's no sense in telling someone how to keep snow off their driveway if they live in the desert, and similarly, there's no point in challenging older people to go out and evangelize when they are physically unable to do so. Share a positive truth that is meaningful to others. Sometimes, a rebuke is necessary when confronting those who oppose God's truth or challenge authority with baseless accusations and personal opinions. The word of God is the foundation on which we base our lives and testify as individuals and servants of God. The servant must understand that they are teaching and serving God's people in a way that cannot be disrespected or condemned. Our behavior, both personally and publicly, should support and reinforce what we say.
