AGED WOMEN. Titus 2:3-5 Older men and women need to control their will, thoughts, tongues, and emotions to accurately represent the Lord Jesus Christ and pass on essential truths and practices to younger people. Older women are expected to be dignified in their dress, speech, behavior, and lifestyle. Our outward conduct reflects what and who we are inside. Older women often set the example and tone for an assembly, both morally and spiritually. Older women should control their tongues to prevent accusations. They are to manage their appetites so they do not give in to self-indulgent cravings for food and wine. The focus of our minds and attention often revolves around our cravings, whether it's wine, food, clothes, or pleasures—anything that satisfies our physical desires. Older women are to teach younger women truths that should be practiced both at home and in the assembly. The same moral standards apply to both men and women. Young Christian women who are new to the faith must learn how to live as God intends by observing and learning from those who have been Christians for longer. Exemplary women of God should motivate younger believers to live in ways that please the Lord Jesus Christ. Slander, or malicious gossip, originates from the devil, who does everything he can to attack and undermine the lives and testimonies of believers. Trivial matters can become serious issues when they are the subject of careless conversations. Exaggeration, misrepresentation, and misinterpretation of a conversation can quickly turn into harmful gossip. This can lead to increased criticism and has the potential to divide people. Home life influences the assembly more than assembly life influences home life. Happy, godly homes foster happy, godly assemblies. Women often need help navigating home life, especially if they come from a non-Christian background where life was very different from the Christian home life God desires. A respectful attitude, a guarded tongue, and a holy lifestyle greatly impact those who observe, even if an older woman does not know them personally. Their love for their husband and children is shown consistently, not used as leverage for some hidden agenda. An example of godliness in an older woman's life makes the word of God honest and positive rather than being ignored or rejected.
