Titus 3:8

MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS

MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS. Titus 3:8 The previous verses in the chapter teach us about our obligation to authority and to every good work. Faithful, ongoing service, meeting the needs of others, and fulfilling our responsibilities as citizens are all requirements for God's children. It is right to do these things for men, but more importantly, it is honorable and fair to act unselfishly for the benefit of others. Profitable does not mean we charge for everything, but that it benefits those we serve. It is also beneficial because it positively affirms our Christian faith. Through our reactions to truth and error and honest evaluation, we should avoid those things that only cause problems.

A faithful, trustworthy saying highlights a specific point that has been made or will be stated. Paul told Titus to make sure that the Lord’s people, who had been saved by God’s grace, live in a way that shows God’s great salvation. This needs to be repeated often to ensure it stays in the minds and hearts of God’s people.

We who have experienced God's grace should dedicate ourselves to showing our salvation and gratitude to the Lord through our actions, attitudes, and behavior. Generally, this means being honorable and trustworthy in our work, committed to helping those in need, faithful in our service to the Lord, and consistent in our walk with Him.

Works are not the cause of salvation but the result of it. They don’t save us but testify that we are saved by grace and show what God has done for us. Evidence of being saved by grace includes love for others, a desire to see others saved, the spiritual well-being of those who are saved, and a willingness to do what is best for their benefit.

A trustworthy statement highlights everything that has been said and must be affirmed repeatedly to ensure the message sinks into the hearts of the listeners. Repetition is necessary to engrain God’s truth deeply in the minds of His people. We are to sustain our beliefs through actions of good works, applying practically what we understand by faith. Grace comes first, which leads to faith. Faith is then followed by good works—the root first, then the fruit.

Not for salvation, but because of it. Not for praise, but despite it, keep doing good works. Not because they are demanded, but because they are proof of love for the well-being of others. Do not do good works for self-honor but to bring honor and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. Do not do good works just to be seen by people, but for God. Continue doing what you do not to feel good about yourself but to let the Lord become real to those who watch you and will want to have the salvation and faith you possess.

Peculiar people are unusual but not funny-peculiar. They are different because they’re irregular; they don’t act to be seen and admired by others. They want their motives to be understood by God but not by men. They are content to go unnoticed on earth, not in heaven. They will seem unreal to those who take what they want and will be unappreciated by those seeking personal gain. Unlike those who live only for profit, they are happy to remain unrecognized except by those who truly need it.

Some people find good works odd and suspect there is some hidden motive behind them. Good works resemble God because they lift up those who are down. However, good works are rare, and people often forget them quickly. God will praise good works in the future by saying, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me.” Doing good works will not bring shame but will bring honor to God’s name when we do them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Continue performing good deeds for others. Keep up your good works by being available to the Lord, His people, and those whose burdens we can help lift. Share the blessings you've received with your brothers and sisters. Continue doing things that lighten their load. Support them in the name of our God. Keep practicing good works so that truth can be seen. Maintain actions that benefit others. Do good works to help people know God. Good deeds demonstrate that Jesus is Lord.

We need to dedicate ourselves to good works because of the needs around us and the widespread unhappiness. Others lack our joy or contentment; I often wonder why. Many possess much of this world’s treasures yet feel very dissatisfied. Still, I know that even when many have much, a kind gesture, done thoughtfully at the right moment, can soften hardened hearts.
