A TRAINING MANUAL Thoughts come from various sources: messages I have heard from individuals, assemblies, Bible studies, home life, and books I have read. The Holy Spirit is the Teacher who brings them to life for me.

“SET IN ORDER...” “ADORN THE DOCTRINE…” “MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS.” These three phrases capture the entire message of the Book of Titus in just a few words. The apostle Paul's first letter to Timothy and his letter to Titus were written before his final imprisonment in Rome. The second letter to Timothy was written shortly before his death, sometime later. Second Timothy is a personal letter addressing matters between an older servant of the Lord and a younger one. The letters to Titus and the first to Timothy focus on the needs of believers in the Ephesus and Crete churches. There had been Christian communities in Crete for around thirty years. These communities had existed long enough for problems to develop, but the leadership apparently could not manage the issues.
The main message of this letter is God’s ideal for the Christian church and its workers. God wants the local church to be well-ordered and strong in faith, morals, and practical actions. The worker should love order and use proper methods to promote healthy doctrine and clear, respectful speech. This book includes two of the most comprehensive statements of Christian faith [2:11-17; 3:4-7].
