1st John 2:15. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” LOVE VS love. Love of the world is noisy and brash – That love flows for a moment but soon it is past. The things of the world you love are soon gone – They promised a lot but never belonged To one who in God’s family has a prominent place, Never can find satisfaction apart from God’s grace. Love of the world involves following earth’s god – There is no place of connection between cosmos and the Lord.
Love of the Father is honorable and deep – It is our highest joy His will to do and keep. Love of the Father is love right from the heart – It came to full life right from the start. And as years pass by, I find that love still growing, The love of the Father far surpasses my knowing All that it means, but I daily experience – The fact of Father’s love in divine providence.
Love of the world and love of the Father, Are totally incompatible each with each other. One finds no common ground if they love the world – Because the world hated and crucified my Lord. Love of the Father is not a big show – It is in the heart and life where His love we know. May the world and its love never attract my attention – The love of the Father is proof of my salvation.
“Father in heaven, I am in this world but I do not love it. As each day passes, I find myself more estranged from all that people seem to think is so important. I do worry somewhat about my family lest they think there can be some satisfaction in the world that will give them what they think they are missing. Preserve them, O God. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
