1st John 2:24. “Let that therefore abide in you which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” FROM THE BEGINNING. From the earliest days of my recollection Certain things I learned and I have absolutely no question That the God of eternity spoke things into being at the time of creation And maintains all things in order by divine organization.
Planned even before earth, was the way of redemption There was a purpose behind every act of needed substitution As animals were slain to keep sinners from holy retribution Until the Lamb God provided brought to us eternal salvation.
In grace God arranged Christ’s coming with careful preparation, The Romans had conquered, and planned a taxation, And into this world at the right time and location The Savior came bringing light to every nation.
His coming was not an act of divine desperation But was designed and carried out to bring reconciliation With grace and holy dignity, Jesus brought to every situation A result that honored God and gave the needy the right solution.
God was in Christ through He endured great humiliation On every hand while He was here there was strong opposition With gracious words and holy boldness, He went to the destination Of the redemptive work when He died the death of crucifixion.
The blessings from the beginning come right to my generation Redeemed by His blood, saved from sin and given practical sanctification Risen in Him now, and awaiting the glorious resurrection – And privileged along with others to be His earthly representation.
“Father in heaven, I learned from those who taught me the truth of God. Since then I have experienced personally the things I was taught from others. Now those early teachings are my own in a practical way. I am convicted and convinced of those things I learned from the beginning. I fear I haven’t been able to pass on to my family those same things. So, I pray they will learn for themselves that Thou art unchanging, reliable in every situation and anxious to have them live and learn from Thyself. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
