1st John 2:29. “If ye know that he is righteous, ye now that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.” YE KNOW #2. I know that He who made all things by the word of His power is Almighty God. I know the same One who maintains all things can change it all with one word. I know the power that in such a mighty creative work He did accomplish, Can in those redeemed by grace alone, around the world by them be published, If the righteousness imparted by Him be seen in them to be what’s real – It will to the testimony of His saving power set an assuring seal.
I know that He who saved me keeps me through all the changing scenes of life. I know He who lived here in the flesh gave plain warning there would be strife. I know the Spirit who dwells within gives grace and all the needed strength, To deal with any unforeseen temptations and besetting sins at length, Bringing ultimately a righteous benefit that will to me be purifying, And keep me from embarrassing myself or the Lord denying. I know the attitudes of men and nations – even believers is changing. I know the things they accept as normal will never to me be satisfying. I know the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all in plan and purpose are united, And I have found through many years of fellowship, I am delighted With knowing I am born again – a work of God alone, not of any man; Nearly sixty years of increasing joy in following the path God alone did plan.
I know that He who saved me by His grace, intends to keep me to the end. I know the truth of God well taught, will not need my feeble attempts to make it stand. I know the charge to defend the faith, teach sound doctrine and the Gospel preach, Is not a work beyond my scope, nor should I ever by slothfulness, myself impeach; So, I call upon my soul and spirit in this noisy place, to be quiet here today, And contemplate before anything unknown arises, what I will do and say.
“O Righteous God, there is in me so little that is of value, and yet I am anxious to do and be righteous in every way. I think I am ready to learn – yes, I am ready: please teach me Thy righteousness experimentally. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
