1st Peter 2:23. “Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:” COMMITTED. When spoken against and cursed A silence that is above normal humanity Pedigree – power – personality – personhood Spoken against in insulting untruths How can His holy character – His righteous standard Be silent in the face of blatant disregard – Commitment – total trust – unswerving confidence In a Righteous Judge
The suffering of rejection – a stranger to His own The suffering of denial – from a familiar voice The suffering of betrayal – a companion sells Him out The suffering of humiliation – a drunkard’s slurred song The suffering of abuse – excruciating pain Yet no threatening words of retaliation – Commitment to a charge – a righteous work – And a Righteous Judge
Lesser – feeble in comparison – yet real to me Misunderstood – frustrated – wondering amazement Why the silence – the avoidance – the gossip Why the misrepresentation – the untruths I have no answer – but I “know in whom I have believed” His example – His commitment challenges me To be committed – to yield - to trust – unhesitatingly The Righteous Judge
“I have no answers Father God: but maybe I don’t need them as to why some say and do what they say and do. But I yield to Thee. I trust Thee without hesitation – The Righteous Judge, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
