Acts 5:41. “…Rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.”
COUNTED WORTHY. It is not usually considered a cause for rejoicing when we are put to shame. If shame is caused by bad conduct, it is a cause for embarrassment. If shame comes from bad company, that too is reason to bow our heads in humiliation. But if shame is caused because of our identification with our blessed Lord Jesus Christ, it is a cause for great rejoicing! There is no higher honor than to be linked with Him in any way. It is a unique blessing to be publicly noted as an associate of the Lord Himself. How great a cause for joy it is to be called to suffer for such a noble association!
“It is with a sense of humility Father, that I am glad to be called a Christian. That’s how the people around recognize me. It is with deeper humility that I feel unworthy of being called brother, by some of the choicest people on earth. But to be linked with the Lord Jesus Christ and through Him, to made a child of God and placed as a son – I can only look up from the depths of my unworthiness and worship! In the name of the “Beloved” who has made me accepted, Amen.”
