Colossians 4:15. "Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house."
HOUSE CHURCH. Buildings weren't essential to the early saints Private homes were opened to them. In places where the apostles preached, God plants New churches, and there they gathered to Him. The "called out" believers are the church, you see; It is important to know the truth. Where the saints gather in His name is where He Is, not depending on the style of the roof.
A woman opened the door of her home and the saints came together, To worship and learn the Word of the Lord. At a regular time, each week they would gather Like a little oasis of peace in an ungodly world. There the gifts God had given to be used for edification, Had opportunity to develop and were used
To bring to the company the benefit of spiritual instruction, As the Spirit guided their function as He would choose.
No doubt the use of homes still continues - The world is a very large place. God is not limited to buildings or venues - The believers just need some space Where they can come in sweet fellowship, And carry out their blessed Lord's commands - To continue steadfast in the faith and worship - That is all that a New Testament church demands.
"Lord God, I thank Thee that Thou dost meet with Thy people in halls, schools, homes and in rented buildings. In many places they are used for a variety of purposes but when the church gathers, it is sanctified by Thy presence among us. May we experience the power and presence of the Lord tonight in the Gospel Hall here. May other souls come to Christ at this time. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen."
