Exodus 10:24

PARTIAL OBEDIENCE

EXODUS 10:24. “And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said: Go ye, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.” PARTIAL OBEDIENCE. “Only the men,” the world says – As it seeks to claim your soul. It’s not fair for you to impose your will, On those who are not so old. The children belong where their friends are found, They belong with their group of peers. Let them stay, while you go on – Don’t you dare to arouse their fears.

“Only the people,” the world says – All your possessions came from us. We made it possible you could have these things, It’s from the world you’ve really been blessed. Our claim of ownership is based on this – All you have came from the world at the start. Face the fact, you’d have nothing if it wasn’t for this – All you have that’s your own is your heart.

“Leave your possessions,” says world, they belong to us, But God’s people reply with plain words, “You’d have nothing; you’d not even breathe, If your breath was held back by the Lord.” The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, Every person owes God all they will have. Those who obey Him, and worship in spirit and truth – Will not hold back from giving to the Lord they love.

“Father of grace: when called to obey Your word and Your will, may I never withhold anything from You. I know often there is a tendency to half-heartedness, and the world places low value on the things of God. Keep me by the Spirit of God from ever letting partial obedience take the place of what You want more than sacrifice. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
