GENESIS 28:17. “And he was afraid, and said, ‘How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.’” THE GATE OF HEAVEN. Unusual in time and place and form to that which is common-place living – But needed rest makes necessary the stop for one who is not sure – Not sure of the day and days that lie before, and fearful of the days that lie behind; And in the hardness of that night’s repose – God’s speaks.
When God speaks, our thoughts and minds rise higher far to places never been – Concepts of approach to God go way beyond the limits of our own experience – For who can conceive of earth as only a footstool, yet it is – just a place for God’s foot, And the foot of a ladder for messengers to walk on – bringing hope from God through heaven’s gate.
More – bringing truth unknown and taking evidence of service done or still undone; The steps of servants, celestial never hesitate to walk to and from the gate of heaven. The One who speaks above the gate makes plain – all things on earth are known to Him, His interests, purposes and divine decrees, lie within and without the gate of heaven.
The lessons learned full well on those hard pillows, bearing thoughts of guilt and grace; Joy and sorrow; prayers and praises forming a mixture of emotions and intentions – Are far beyond the ordinary, not dreams caused by too much food or fearful actions of the recent past, No, these are thoughts expressed from an understanding Father-Master who speaks from heaven’s gate.
Times there are when questions, fears and actions wait for clarification from the One above the gate. There is no comfortable repose until the answers clearly enter into my restless mind – and then – What only moments past had caused such consternation – now, there are answers of peace – And the darkness flees before the brightness of God’s revealed will to me – at heaven’s gate.
The crisis is passed, and that “certain place,” now has become a “Bethel” unto me – Spirit-oil has set apart that time and place, forever unforgettable as the place where the ladder’s foot Bringing messengers with messages from heaven to me, made it possible for me to send mine back – That blessed way of access making communion with God a certainty – through the gate of heaven.
“O Lord my God: the promises Thou hast made, the assurances Thou hast given, are proof to me that the gate of heaven is open now. The reservations of my earth-bound mind, so prone to human decision making, keep me at times from appreciating the awesomeness of the place where God dwells. I thank Thee for the “House of God” and voice that speaks from above the gate of heaven. Amen.”
