Matthew 17:8. “And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.”
JESUS ONLY. Jesus only, could please the Father. He alone knew the full demands Of a Righteous God who is supremely Holy, Who has given to men His clear commands. In His lofty, holy service, Never once did Jesus fail To bring His Father joy and pleasure; Even though in the flesh He’s veiled.
Jesus only, the Mighty Healer, Conquered sin – He did the devil defeat. Not a casual act for selfish honor, But by fasting and prayer complete. Not by slight of hand or trickery, But by faith true – and fullest trust. In our smallest act of service, Prayer and fasting are a must.
So the freedom of God’s own children, Came to us from God’s Son who pleased His Father fully – without pressure – We too now in Him are freed. Yet as strangers, still we live – Here where the Father knows is best. And the tribute, we pay as strangers; As children, we in our Father rest.
“O heavenly Father: I want to fix my eyes on Jesus, and not be distracted by all that is going on around me. All of the fuss in the world and in daily living is so temporary, but Jesus Christ is the same, ‘yesterday, today, and forever.’ Amen.”
