Proverbs 14:34

THE REPUTATION OF A NATION

Proverbs 14:34. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

THE REPUTATION OF A NATION. The beginning was based on the Word of God They came from all over the world.

Not perfect it’s true but they all knew they should Base their laws on a tried and proven Word. Poverty stricken and hungry the people survived They were tested in many different ways. Through perils and pain – not much left but their lives They put their trust in God and found better days.

It was only an upstart among the world’s nations But an identity was carved out in blood. Small and weak they soon gained a reputation As a people who were not afraid of hard work. The expansion continued; people moved west They didn’t leave their Bibles behind. Their reputation spread – they wanted the best The nation finally its soul did find.

The bitter taste of wars – international and civil Tried the soul of the nation severe. And the people kept coming wanting to start over They came from almost everywhere. But now something has changed – a dangerous turn A new religion has made itself known. The Bible, its message and truth people spurn A materialistic society has emerged full blown.

Now instead of righteousness that exalts a nation Possessions and money are what people desire. Covetousness and greedy is our reputation Not only possessions but our souls are for hire. Our people no longer pray, the Bible is strange, Even our holidays are secular at best. Our heritage, even history “revised” and changed Our integrity has out the window been cast.

Sin on every hand has made us a reproach – What now can the righteous do? Our moral decay gives our nation a stench Wherever in the world we go. It is time to call a halt – make a right-about-face Turn from sin and back to God we must flee. Challenge every family in each and every place To get back to the Source of our liberty.

We became what we are with our original commitment To Almighty God and obeying His Holy Word. The sinful society we are now needs replacement By a people who acknowledge God is our Lord. I cannot change others but I have a reputation I am responsible before all who know me. If one after another all over this nation Repent and turn to God, by His mercy an honored nation we’ll be.

“O Holy God, the God of all nations: we have turned away and no longer is the fear of God among us. I am reminded of Ezra praying and weeping for his nation and a change happened in one day. We stopped to pray seven years ago at 9/11, but that pause was so short lived the death of 3000 people has been forgotten. Can I contribute to the nation being brought to repentance in ways that I have overlooked? If so, I ask that I will seek and find that work that needs to be done – and then do it. Until that time, I will continue in what Thou hast given me until now. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
