Proverbs 23:26. “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” THE HEART-ROAD. The way to the heart starts in my head Actually, that pathway starts in my face – For the impressions that come from around me Move quickly from place to place. Some start in my eyes when I see a thing – Others reach to heart through my ears With dark sayings or songs people sing Bringing to heart depression or cheer.
Into my heart go new thoughts Hiding there waiting to be expressed. My heart is the unseen part of me That usually is verbally confessed. If eyes and ears send impressions to heart, It is important what mouth has to say – For what passed through my face at the start – From heart comes back through face to stay.
People will be blessed or cursed With how heart uses information given. Face doesn’t know which is worse – Heart is the intelligent one chosen. My eyes are not discerning If heart and mind do not work. Ears can’t stop their hearing But heart filters out the dirt.
So, if I pass over my heart to the Lord (Heart one time was most deceitful) – The cleansing power of His blood Makes heart a member that’s faithful. And the members of my face are still there, But heart thinks a different way – Looking at the impressions with care So, mouth has a good message to say.
“O God of my salvation, I thank Thee for letting me hear Thy Word, and read it with my own eyes. I am thankful that my darkened heart and mind was awakened and enlightened by the truth of Thy Gospel. Now may I speak Thy Word even this night through my mouth and may they be truths that have reached my heart first. I do not want to speak of unfelt truth. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,Amen.”
