Ruth 1:16-17. And Ruth said, “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.”
FAMOUS WORDS. Not spoken to be quoted at weddings yet to come; Heart-felt words that come from a woman leaving home. Three tear-filled women on a road saying last good-byes – One looking back – two ahead with faith-filled hopeful eyes.
There comes a time in every life when important choices are made. Not little ones made every day to provide for our daily bread – But a once-in-a-lifetime choice that changes my history – We often look for others to make, but this one must be made by me.
Who am I going to follow - the majority or one alone? She is not a perfect woman, but she knows what the Lord has done. I’ve seen evidence enough to know she is one who truly believes – God is her God, and she knows where she is going when this place she leaves.
Where am I going to live? I have nothing with which to buy – A home or pay someone to build a shelter where I may stay. But I will live with her who really and truly knows her God – And the God she has learned to trust, I will trust to be my Lord.
The past is over and gone – I am not going back there to stay. When I left the land of darkness, I chose to go to the light of day. I know it will not be easy to start life all over again –
But if she who I am following can do it, then I too on the Lord depend.
A person who is willing to trust God, knows He will not let you down – The faith that seemed so small at first, finally now is really my own. I have learned God is easy to be trusted, He has plan that is laid out for me. When I walk each day by faith in Him, His will I will be able to see.
“Gracious Father, I praise Thee for leaving these few words of this woman for us all to read and see how simple faith works. She must’ve really appreciated Naomi. I appreciate those who have been in my life that I can watch and learn from. May I in turn be someone others can see the reality of faith in. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
