THE SAVIOR OF ALL. 1st Timothy 4:10. The provision is made for all people to be saved and offered to everyone everywhere who repents of their sins and calls on the name of the Lord. No one needs to perish in their sins because the call is universal. Salvation is “unto all, and upon all that believe.” Our confidence is in the One who gives salvation to everyone who trusts in Him and believes His Word.
There is no doubt about God’s ability to save because His love, mercy, and grace are infinite. The sacrifice Christ made when He “offered Himself” on the cross was for the “world.” Christ is the Savior for everyone because the life He gave on behalf of the world was without favoritism. We know that as a man, He can be both the Savior of all mankind and, because He is the living God, He knew He had satisfied every righteous claim God had against us. His deity is often confirmed in God’s written Word.
“To this end” means the goal is eternal life, “that which is to come.” A Christian must work and endure hardship in this life to gain divine approval. The godly believer will suffer; the laborer will see the results of their work long after they have finished. The foundation of this is our trust in the living God who has given us eternal life, reminding us that eternity is the focus of this passage. The Savior of all people describes the One who gives everyone life, breath, and existence.
As the Savior, He has provided eternal life for all mankind and desires that everyone will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. He is the Savior who actually saves every person who believes in Him. Our hope lies in the absolute certainty of eternal life “In all who believe.”
Anyone who comes to Him will never be turned away. The Gospel message in the Bible is the message we preach, and it affirms this truth. There is not a single person alive whom God will not accept on the simplest possible terms when they honestly confess their guilt as sinners who deserve eternal punishment for their sins. If they genuinely repent of their sins to God and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, God will save them.
Salvation is not forced on people because man has free will. While alive, a person is offered salvation by grace through faith. The Gospel is proclaimed to the farthest parts of the earth because, in God’s eyes, everyone is worth more than all material things combined. Mankind was created to bring fellowship and glory to God and to have fellowship with each other. God is willing to give His greatest blessing to those who believe and trust in Him completely. He offers His gift of salvation without limit.
