KEEP THIS. 1st Timothy 6:14. It is common for someone to say, “Keep this treasure for me. I know it will be here when I return because I trust you.” When we are trusted, we tend to do what is entrusted to us with a sense of responsibility. Being trusted implicitly gives a person a sense of worth. When a message is given to be passed along, it is very wrong to change it in any way. Not only is it wrong to alter the message, but it is also arrogant to rearrange an authoritative message to suit the messenger rather than the sender. Such actions undermine trust in the messenger, regardless of what they claim.
Something passed on is meant to remain completely unchanged. It should also be spotless when the Owner reviews the response. Nothing must lessen its value; no blemish should appear as if it has fallen into dirt. It will be displayed when the Lord appears in His full glory before all the world.
I must be careful to fulfill the charge I’ve been given without inviting rebuke. The Lord was faithful to the Father in every way, even though the people took everything from Him, including His life. His disciples appeared powerless when they abandoned the Savior and ran for their lives. May the charge I’ve been given be clearly proclaimed so that others will look to Jesus. I cannot ignore my responsibility—so much is still at stake. People deserve to trust the truth of every remark I make. Moreover, there will be those watching to see if my actions align with the Word of God, or if I am simply a fake.
In his time, Timothy had to act on Paul's charge. The same applies to me today, as it did then for them. I have been tasked with keeping the Lord's commandments, loving Him, and giving full attention and care to what has been entrusted to me, just as it was for Timothy back then.
Timothy was given this charge to move forward with the same quiet confidence and strength that our Lord had. In this commandment, he received everything involved in the Gospel. The entire truth of God must be preserved intact, without alteration or blame. From this charge, we learn how crucial it is to keep ourselves free from the appearance of evil and to uphold our integrity. This "charge" was a warning to recognize that our commitment is to continue for a lifetime until the Lord appears in His glory.
We are responsible for taking this charge personally as we await the time our Lord will be revealed to the world for who He truly is. No one is above Him, and there is no greater privilege than what we have. His authority, power, and glory surpass all the kings and lords combined. Immortality is unique to God, and He grants it to believers. When believers leave the body, they pass through a door into heaven. His glory was hidden when our Lord was here, even though His moral glories could be seen in His conduct, heard in His words, and experienced in the blessings He provided. The only appropriate response to Him is hymn, worship, and praise.
