2 Timothy 4:7

FINISHED THE COURSE

FINISHED THE COURSE. 2nd Timothy 4:7 As we look to the future, living in these last days, we may eventually realize that everything we endured was worth the effort. When we see our blessed Lord Jesus Christ reigning in righteousness and peace on earth, we will truly understand what mattered most in our lives. Paul’s years of labor as an apostle, soldier, athlete, and steward were significant because he had “fought,” persevered against all opposition. The fight was meaningful because it was a fight of faith, bringing blessing rather than the results of warfare. The goal was clear before him, and he faithfully kept the deposit of truth that had been entrusted to him. He had carefully defended the faith, preached the Gospel, and ministered to the Lord’s people. Paul did not make these comments until he was near death. He did not rely on his past service. Instead, he suffered, struggled, persevered, and served God until his race was complete. The words of that faithful man have been left for our learning and admonition. The Holy Spirit used Paul to write down what God had placed in his heart and hands. Millions of people have been blessed for centuries because of the apostle Paul's written words. A crown of righteousness was reserved for Paul. I wonder what is reserved for us. Whatever it is, it will be worth any opposition, difficulties, trials, and struggles we have experienced.
