CORRUPT MINDS. 2ndTimothy 3:8 Corrupt minds are dishonest and evil. Those with such a mindset are known for resisting the truth. The two named men likely opposed Moses when he appeared before Pharaoh in Egypt and performed miracles for the king. Under the influence of the devil, they imitated what the Lord had done through Moses before their deceiving, distorted, debased, and depraved minds could do no more.
In this epistle, two men are ashamed of the truth, two more are mistaken about the truth, and two others resist the truth. Timothy faced people like these as he taught God's truth to the saints in Ephesus. Paul assured him that God would intervene, deal with them, and reveal them in His timing and way.
Many so-called “teachers” today create their own versions of the Bible to support their personal goals. They dismiss the reliable and proven scriptures by claiming they are too difficult to understand or not relevant to modern life. By using a simplified, distorted version of God's inspired word, they highlight what fits their agenda and ignore that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
When these teachers are tested by “the faith that was once delivered to the saints,” they are shown to be deceivers who are disapproved, and their teachings must be rejected as false and counterfeit concerning God's truth. Some deny that the Lord Jesus Christ is God; others see some of the church's doctrine as a matter of private interpretation. The ultimate exposure of their falsehood will be a work of God. He reveals His will and truth to those who seek it and follow His guidance. God's judgment will fall on people with corrupt minds, and that judgment will be just and final.
