The Food of the Priests. Exodus 29:31-34 Certain parts of the ram and the three different types of unleavened bread were placed into the hands of Aaron and his sons to hold up and wave before the Lord. This was the first act of their entire consecration ceremony. The ram symbolizes the significance of Christ's death to God; the loaves of unleavened bread represent His perfect life on earth, lived in fellowship with God and empowered by the Holy Spirit. These items filled the hands of the priests. Consecration to God as a priest to worship and serve Him means that it is essential for us to be filled with Christ, not ourselves.
Those same things were then burned on the altar as a sweet aroma to God, who finds His joy in His Well-Beloved Son. The remaining flesh of the ram was cooked, and Aaron and his sons ate the meat and unleavened bread. They found their blessing and strength by sharing in the very things that satisfied God's righteousness. What a wonderful fellowship it is to be able to find our joy and satisfaction in the same Person as the Almighty God. His grace, His joy, and fellowship with Him elevate our spiritual understanding beyond what we could have ever expected. One wonders what it will be like when we are at home in heaven.
