Obedience to the Covenant. Leviticus 26:3-13 The arrangement related to the covenant God made with the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai was based on an “if–then” agreement. God stated what He would do and could be relied upon to fulfill His part of the covenant completely. God cannot fail, nor will He ever be unfaithful to His people. The Israelites knew God to be righteous, holy, and full of grace, mercy, and love. His word is true, and it is impossible for God to lie.
The three blessings outlined in the covenant when the Israelites were obedient to the Lord were: God would provide the necessary rain to ensure abundant harvests. Each crop would be so plentiful that as soon as they finished gathering one type of produce, the next would be ready to harvest. The second blessing was that they would live in peace, where neither wild animals nor human enemies would succeed against them. The third blessing was that God would be with them. His presence would be there, watching over their well-being. There would be a constant close relationship between the Lord and His people.
