Leviticus 26

GOD'S GOVERNMENT

GOD'S GOVERNMENT. Leviticus 26 To maintain a society that functions peacefully and orderly, producing the best possible effect on its citizens, we need the controlling power of authority. God designates this in the scriptures by appointing the husband to be responsible for his wife and children at home, elders to be accountable for the proper functioning of an assembly, and the "powers that be" as "ministers of righteousness" for a nation. He intended to be all of those roles concerning the children of Israel.

If the people obeyed Him, they would experience blessings of abundance in material things. They wouldn’t have to fear their enemies because the Lord would deal with them in His way. They could live and walk upright as free men with their heads held high and their heart's content. God's presence would be gladly enjoyed among them.

God, in His grace, has freed us from the bondage of sin solely through His grace, even though we don't deserve any of His mercy. His power has given us the Holy Spirit to help us rise above the challenges of the world, the flesh, and the devil. There is no need to live defeated lives when faced with temptations and enemies around us. The patterns of life we had when in our sins have been broken by divine power. But we only experience this when we are obedient to God's revealed will and committed to walking in the ways He has shown us in His Word. When we do so, God's protection surrounds us. His "strength is made perfect in weakness." Our spiritual prosperity is based on our obedience to our gracious Father.
