Titus 1:13

CONVINCE THEM

CONVINCE THEM. Titus 1:13 Not every nationality or cultural group is the same for various reasons. One reason is the climate where they live. Another difference is the culture and heritage within their family and nation. Some seem to be energetic, eager to claim what is theirs and work hard constantly. They don't have time or space for Jesus; they say life is too full and busy to make time for God. The truth is, the world has its attractive pull, and people want as much as they can get.

Some people, by nature, don't care what happens; hopelessness has taken hold, and they only look for help from others. They choose to remain helpless and dependent on others while indulging in their sins. Part of their problem is that they are so lazy they don't lift their heads to search for opportunities or ways to meet their own needs. They believe that helping the poor and showing care is the church's calling and expect to be cared for by the Lord’s people even though they are able-bodied.

In every nation, some listen to God's inner voice, which speaks to their conscience. God has placed that inner voice in every person. When their conscience begins to awaken their minds, they realize they have a choice between good and evil, sin and salvation, and heaven and hell. "If there is a God who made all this, I don't know Him; I'm spiritually blind." Then, God, in mercy and grace, ensures they find understanding and truth.

Some emerge from the darkness of pagan idolatry into the marvelous light and freedom of God’s grace. Others realize that so-called religion has not provided them with spiritual sight, and outward forms and rituals do not bring forgiveness, salvation, or peace. Those who turn away from false teachings to the truth will find true life right there at hand because God is close to all who call upon Him with a pure heart. The servants the Lord of the harvest has sent to preach the Gospel are nearby, ready to share His word with every seeking soul.

When we see that some teach a doctrine of useless works instead of salvation by grace through faith in Christ, and that some skeptics are not even curious about God and His word, we may need to leave them alone. By His grace, God can find other ways to reach them and pull them out of their self-chosen darkness, which keeps them in the grip of sin. We often become impatient with people who don't want to take responsibility for their lives and expect others to care for them. I know entitlement has been taught to many younger people, and some even accept it as normal, well into adulthood. God’s servants need to learn how to reach people of all personalities and backgrounds.
