1st John 2:21. “I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. YOU KNOW At the beginning when at the first I was saved Like those in the old times I knew I truly did have Eternal life and not a whole lot more – until The words of the Bible gave me much more – and still Such teaching I received gave real assurance and confidence So I could rest on God’s written word, and I have ever since.
But there are others who came along and say they too Have a revelation from God that is more recent – it’s new And makes more plain they say, things we didn’t learn – From those ancient words of scripture they want me to turn And follow what they say because it is more up to date – And the reading is easier – but that I won’t take.
I know that Christ Jesus has come in the flesh I know I must have His imputed righteousness I know there are antichrists who now God’s grace spurn I know they are false and it’s a false doctrine they learn. I know I have the Spirit, the Father and the Son – I know those who deny Him have never been reborn.
“There is a lot of truth, heavenly Father, that is being denied right around me and it seems to be getting more popular to ignore the scriptures and make mans’ ideas acceptable. I see evidence of antichrist attitudes near at hand and wonder if there is some way that I can reinforce Thy truth in a way I may have overlooked. If there is such, please make me aware of it and show me how I can again be effective in teaching Thy word. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
The Holy Spirit who indwells every believer from the moment of their new birth has "anointed" each one with spiritual understanding to discern that which is taught as to whether it is right or wrong. He communicates truth to us and guides us to come to know our Lord Jesus Christ. He reveals Christ to us as a real Person in our lives with whom we live and walk. Those who do not have the Spirit within are not hesitant to lie and deceive. Believers know the truth and we are led by the Spirit to oppose and reject the spirit of antichrist that is in false teachers. Those who oppose Christ while claiming to be children of God, are liars. These are strong words of urgency spoken against those who undermine divine truth.
Those who know the Father and the Son, know that it is Jesus alone who was sent by the Father to be the Savior of the world. They know and believe with all their hearts that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again for our justification. It is incumbent on us to faithfully hold on to our faith and teach its fundamentals to others. That is the means whereby we can successfully oppose the false teaching that is pressed upon those who may be young in the faith and have little understanding of Christ's doctrine as yet. Those things that have been taught us by faithful men and that stands the tests of scripture, needs to be held.
