1st John 2:8. “Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth." NEW COMMANDMENT. It shows itself in various ways, The command to love, I mean – Not just respect for what God says, But the new command is what is seen.
Self-sacrifice is evidence Of learning what Christ taught – Giving in love is consistent, With walking the way He walked.
Feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, Is evidence of the new command. Meeting needs as the Lord did here – Indicates the new commandment I understand.
The new commandment goes beyond How I think or what I say. It defines the value of every one – And how I live each day.
Since I have experienced the love of God, Darkness is a thing of the past. True light shines out from the living Word – It’s now my turn to make that love last.
Some folks might not listen to a preacher – They won’t come to hear the Gospel sound. But love is a most effective teacher – They listen to love when it comes around.
May I never forget the new commandment – There is much that is really at stake. The banner of love is the standard – May love direct every step that I make.
“Father in heaven, please impress the new commandment on my heart. I need to be able to see people around me as those that are in need of the love of God. May I live out the effects of the love of God to me so that others will see what it means to be in God’s family. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
