GENESIS 9:12-13. “And God said, ‘This is the token of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud.’” A TOKEN. Across the dark sky because of the sun and the rain; A colorful bow makes an arch. To man and to God, the bow is a sign; God has promised no more flood as a curse.
Instead He has made a covenant with men, The seasons will continue each year. The animals and fish are under man’s hand, And the plants of the earth food will bear.
Each time we sit down at a table to eat, We stop what we’re doing to give thanks. We remember God made, and His covenant will keep, The rainbow puts this fact on our hearts.
Covenants have two sides between the parties involved; Each is responsible to keep covenant with the other. When difficulties arise, the issue must be solved, Whether it’s between God and me, or me and my brother.
God never fails at all to do what He says, The breakdown is caused by us humans. The covenant assures us He is ready to bless – The terms of covenant work when we do them.
“There are times Father God, when I know better than to do what I am pressured to do, because I may worry about what people say. Still part of me wants to do that to keep their friendship or approval. Then I remember the covenant of His blood and the rest loses its attraction. Thanks for forming such a vital covenant as to make us acceptable in Thy sight, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.”
