Proverbs 17:8. “A gift is as a precious stone (stone of grace) in the eyes of him that hath it: Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.”
A STONE OF GRACE. Like a beautiful gem it is looked on with admiring adoring eyes It has come to hand unexpectedly; it is not like some earned prize A gift in the hand of the giver, is not really a gift at all Until placed in the hands of the receiver and then will the blessings fall.
The gift one presents is looked on as a special gemstone of grace It wasn’t earned or deserved – the receiver has a special place In the heart of the giver who wants to express some appreciation And gives that “stone of grace” that brings such admiration.
Like a precious “stone of grace” an unexpected gift was given to me When the grace-gift of God’s salvation was received, all I then could see Was the beauty of forgiveness and the on-going sense of peace But now I know much more accompanied that gift of the “stone of grace.”
Everywhere I now turn I can see that gift’s amazing effect When I pass on that grace, I receive far more than I ever could give Brothers and sisters in Christ, express also the grace they received And we share much together of God’s wonders since we believed.
Together we meet to pass on the benefits of God’s free gift Sinners hear and believe the Gospel and spirits of saints we can lift The reflection to that grace-gift is seen around me on every side Bringing light and life to others and a joy we cannot hide.
I look at that “stone of grace” this morning and already the day is lighter The load of concern for lost sinners is lifted and the flame inside burns brighter Grace shines to me much clearer the more I focus on it I recognize I am only passing on what God gave to me as a gift.
“O gracious Giver of every good and perfect gift: I thank Thee for revealing such blessings that shine like precious stones in my life. Spiritual gifts are evident in so many different ways and places: in personal life and home life; in the work of the Lord we are privileged to be a part of; in the testimony of believers we interact with in a lot of different places – truly, ‘Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.’ Amen.”
